About us
We’re Sarah, Valentina, Natalie, Rochelle, Nina, and Hayley. We’re story collectors who love listening to people’s every day experiences, and sharing what people say with decision-makers.
We think your perspective matters. Too often, policies and services are made without meaningful engagement from the people who have the deepest knowledge and lived experience. We believe good policy & services are co-created with people who have been left out and marginalized by systems.
We are working with the City of Edmonton’s Housing Affordability & Homelessness Team to learn about people’s experiences with housing, how it shapes their wellbeing, and to generate ideas for what could be different.
Looking for ...
We’re looking for people from all walks of life. Young or older, with or without a home, new to or raised in Canada, differently-abled or unique circumstances. All are welcome! Maybe you are …
– Fed up with long wait lists?
– Found the place of your dreams?
– Stuck in a situation?
– Beat the system and figured out housing on your own?
– Experienced with eviction?
– Have needs that current housing options just don’t match?
– Looking for more support?
– Feeling stressed at home?
– Stretched financially?
How this works?
1) Call or text us at 780-299-5022 to schedule a chat! We can take you out for a free meal, and get to know each other. We will provide an honorarium for your time.
2) We’ll spend a couple of hours together, and if you’re up for it, go on a tour of your neighbourhood. We’ll write up what you tell us, and return your story for feedback.
3) With your consent, we’ll share your story with the City of Edmonton to inform their upcoming reports & strategy on affordable housing.
So what?
We document and share stories with decision-makers in order to make social change from the ground-up. This project is a partnership with the City of Edmonton’s Affordable Housing and Homelessness team. They are putting together a Housing Needs Assessment for Edmonton’s City Council. We believe that this assessment, along with all future housing & social policies, should be informed by your experiences, perspective, and ideas. You can decide how your story is used, and whether to anonymize your story. It’s totally up to you what to share!
