Protected: Looking for a freelance RoR developer to start soon!

Our social startup www.kudoz.ca is looking for a freelance Ruby on Rails developer — one day per week, 3 months or longer.

This is a unique opportunity to do some really good work in Greater Vancouver. Get in touch before October 1st, we’re looking for someone to start soon!

Kudoz is a platform where volunteers host learning experiences for adults with a cognitive disability – who share the same interest. Anything really, from Animation to Zumba. We’re using an Airbnb-like booking app, based on open source code from Sharetribe. Right now we’re working on SMS integration, and on a visual overview of user activity.

So we’re looking for someone who has experience with:

  • Ruby on Rails
  • JS/JQuery
  • MySQL
  • Twillio
  • AWS and Heroku
  • Mixpanel

What else you should know… We’ve been live prototyping Kudoz for two years with about 100 users. So we get to test new features directly with ‘real’ users. That means that a quick response is needed if something goes really wrong. While sometimes we’ll pause tech development to figure out the next stage. Our priorities sometimes shift week-by-week.

This is us. We’re an international team with designers and doers, working with external developers, researchers and filmmakers. We’re operating from our studio in Burnaby.

Kudoz is here to grow.  We’re held up as an example of a new generation of social services, with the promise to change the existing system. And, we’re shortlisted for the International Service Design Award 2016 alongside the world’s leading design agencies. And we’re about to receive investment for another two years to move forward!
