Fifth Space TV, Episode 4: The Pitch

After 5 weeks of ethnographic field work, Fifth Space teams switched from an analytic to a generative mindset, meaning they had to move from trying to understand problems to trying to come up with alternative solutions. It wasn’t an easy shift. It’s hard not to get bogged down by perceived constraints, and to give space for both radical and incremental ideas to emerge.

Brainstorming soon gave way to idea visualization, where teams learned how to use storyboards to present ideas from the user perspective. They then pitched their favorite idea, got feedback on how their ideas fit a set of principles for ‘good’ solutions, revised and combined ideas, and pitched again.

Six ideas are now being taken forward as prototypes. Visit www.fifthspace.ca to read more about the prototypes.
